  1. Introduction:
    Inkling is committed to protecting user privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the browser extension and platform collect, use, and handle information.
  2. Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) & Local Storage:
    Inkling is designed with privacy as a core principle. The platform operates on a "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) model. Your API keys (e.g., OpenRouter, DeepSeek) are stored locally on your device using your browser's secure storage API. API keys are never transmitted to Inkling's servers.
  3. Data Processing:
    When you use the extension to generate text, autocomplete sentences, or proofread, the text is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you configured (e.g., OpenRouter or DeepSeek). Inkling's servers do not log, intercept, or store the content you type or the AI-generated responses.
  4. Account Information:
    If you subscribe to Inkling Platform features (such as syncing settings or premium layouts), basic account information including your email address and authentication tokens is collected. Payment processing is handled securely by Ko-fi; billing or credit card details are never stored. Inkling uses anonymous activation keys (INK-XXXX-XXXX) to associate donations with account upgrades.
  5. Data Retention:
    Account information and usage metadata are retained for the life of your account. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting support.
  6. Your Rights:
    You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by emailing support@inkling-ai.com. Since the extension operates locally with your own API keys, Inkling does not have access to your writing content or AI provider credentials.
  7. Changes to This Policy:
    We will notify users of material changes via the Inkling website and, when feasible, through the extension itself. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
