Lumen Read includes an optional book-aware assistant that can retrieve relevant excerpts, answer questions about the current book, and help rewrite selected text.

AI is always opt-in. You choose the provider and model, explicitly allow the connection, and can use compatible local models. Your API key is not stored in browser local storage.


Your books and ordinary reading data stay in your browser storage by default. Lumen Read does not run Sentry telemetry in published extension builds.

Optional AI and Dropbox features only connect after your explicit action and use the provider you select.

Lumen Read is free and open source under the AGPL-3.0 license. It is an enhanced fork of the Flow reader project.
