    I think it worked once when I first installed it, but that's it. Its not working now, even though I have uninstalled it several times. The MS Edge extension is working.

    Doesn't work in Firefox. Works in Chrome just fine.

    I wish I could submit a zero star rating. One of my colleagues suggested I use Mendeley and it worked wonderfully for the paper I was writing at the time. Fast forward two months and the Firefox plug in is now totally useless. I added the chrome plug in and it works just fine.

    I expect better from an Elsevier backed company -- you're not a garbage shareware startup.

    Nothing happens when clicking on the extension. I cannot use it to import any references, that's really problematic. I tried all the debugging, uninstalling and reinstalling, nothing works

    As far as I can tell, this extension does absolutely nothing. Clicking on the icon does nothing.

    In Firefox debugging, its returning a connection error. The chrome extension is not working either.

    I now have to manually import references into Mendeley.

    Seems to be fairly useless. Cannot correctly parse the information about papers on Google Scholar, elibrary, JSTOR, Academia, or any other sites.

    I'm sorry to hear about these problems, Aleksandr. Google Scholar should be quite accurate, it would be really useful to know exactly which pages are having this problem? Google Scholar is one of our most used sites, so it would be good to know of any problems with it.

    I had a look at the rest that you mentioned. eLibrary looks to work well with the extension, although if you have pages where it doesn't work it would be good to get them. JSTOR and Academia seem to have similar problems: our extension looks for identifiers on the page (DOIs, ISSNs and the like) and uses that to get metadata and PDFs. JSTOR and Academia do not appear to have them. However, we do have entity identifiers which can clearly be improved for these pages, I'll report them to our developers.

    This new version of Mendeley makes accessing online papers is more complicated and less intuitive than the previous version.

    I'm sorry to hear you feel this way, it would be really useful to know how and why the newer version is more complicated and less intuitive than the previous one, so we can improve the newer version to match your expectations of the older version?

    This doesn't really work. It quite consistently fetches the wrong PDF (especially on PubMed). I don't know why, but I hope this feedback helps address this issue.

    -Getting logged out after each firefox session.
    -Launching firefox also opens this small mendeley window each time. Very annoying

    Edit:
    Now I can't even use it because everytime I click the Mendeley icon, it launches the small window, closes and nothing happens.

    This add on suddenly started asking for permission to produce notifications. This would be so it can display ads for its company, presumably.

    Oh no. No no no no. It's bad enough when every website does this. Now add ons are too? For an apparently respectable company producing this add-on, this is a joke.

    Hi there! As product manager for this extension, I can categorically assure you that we have no intention at all in displaying advertisements. It would wreck the user experience and call forth exactly the kind of indignation I sense from your comment here :)

    The notification permission is used for communicating status messages, such as displaying errors when Mendeley Web Importer cannot import a document. We may potentially use it also in future to indicate that uploads have finished.

    I hope you have been enjoying using Mendeley Web Importer and will continue to benefit from it.

    Can you please explain why this add-on needs the permission to accsess my data for all web sites?

    Good question – but we have good reasons:

    1. Mendeley Web Importer needs to read the content of the web page in order to detect document identifiers within it. The extension then looks up metadata for the identifier from Mendeley Catalog.

    2. Mendeley Web Importer automatically follows link redirects in order to be able to locate a full text PDF for the references it detects. Since the PDF may not be hosted on the web page you are looking at, the extension requires permissions to follow the redirects to be able to look at other websites.
