    Look how active Startpage have been replying to the comments and questions, and now its been totally quiet here.
    Startpage, who promised "real privacy" have after all this years partnered with the ad-company System1 (I think anyone understand that they are anything but privacy friendly) something i did not expect to happen, not with Startpage, but i (and many others) was wrong.

    Dear Startpage, you proved yourself being a scam. Users trust is hard to gain, now when letting your true shady fake face shine, you dont deserve any trust whatsoever.

    Also a long time Startpage fan. Its really sad and a big surprise. I did not expect Startpage to take this path. RIP Startpage.

    Longtime fan of Startpage. This is truly concerning and sad. I’ve gotten emotionally so invested in Startpage,often even recommending it to people over DuckDuckGo these days and their anonymous view was also quite a great feature.

    Startpage has been around for many many years, I would never have expected this to happen, to be honest.

    And sold to a ad company by the name System1 ?
    Maybe you can consider changing the extension and the promising words? Its pretty misleading for being a "Private Search Engine" without trackers and ads, that now are sold to System1, one of the bigger ad crap companies out there.

    A shame really.

    The latest update requires "access to all tabs." I don't care WHAT new functionality you were trying to add or that you're "actively pursuing other options," you should have WAITED until you found another option BEFORE you pushed an update out.

    I do not agree to the new 'access to tabs' permission being forced just for what? 'opening a marketing page'? is this an early april fools' joke? removed and will not install again, even if I might use your search engine for a few months before someone more reasonable comes along (with ublock, how else?).

    Your opinion and feedback are important to us. We do our best balancing ease of use for new users and maintaining legacy functionality for our current users. We understand your decision regarding the extension. One simple solution to continue to search in private with Startpage is to manually set it as your default search engine in Firefox (instructions below).     It is asking for 'access browser tabs' since version 1.2.0 - not sure why.

    Thank you for using Startpage. The request to view tabs is only applicable in the initial install process, in order to pass a marketing page URL from add.startpage.com to confirm a successful installation. However, to enable that feature, we had to request users allow access to the tabs. Once install is complete, we NEVER look at your tabs, so we are actively pursuing other options to grab that URL without needing access to tabs.

    It requires permission `Access browser tabs`. I could not find source code or description why it would require it.
