Okay I've always used Video downloadhelper I found it a very easy useful tool but now since this change I was asked to install a new App before I could download anything....I said alright so I did and I installed it however the first time trying to download using this new system...It Failed! I tried again and it appeared to be downloading but is in fact frozen!!! This is a disaster. I'm sort of hoping someone can read this and help me out or I'm just going to have to look for another program.

I'm amending my review here....... the video wasn't frozen and did eventually download to the folder but as far as I can see there is no way of seeing the progress of a download. On the browser it does appear frozen and the only way you can see if it has worked is by waiting for the video to appear in your folder. I raised the stars to three simply because it does download but it essentially leaves you blind on how long or even if it is working or not.

When I attempt to download a file using download helper, I get a window advising that U naad a "companion app" to proceed. Then, the companion app doesn't load and the file won;t come down. ????

Would have had more stars if the extension didn't hijack my active tab every time it updates.

It is not as good as the previous version for FF56 and below. For example, it does not allow me to download streamed video from a news site called ctvnews.ca which use to under previous version on FF56 and below. Can you check and see why it does not for ctvnews.ca? Thanks.

I rolled back to version V7.0 and I plan on staying there for a while. I never want to demean anyone's hard work but V7.1 is just not user friendly even after you install the companion app. A bunch of downloads over these last few days failed to install for me.


But I'm optimistic future improvements will be made. I know it hasn't been easy adjusting to Webextensions in Mozilla Firefox Quantum
