Wagner Ring Cycle Keilberth
The 1955 recording of Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen cycle of four operas, conducted by Joseph Keilberth at the Bauyreuth Festspielhaus. Contrary to popular belief the famous Solti Ring was not the first stereo recording; this was and, in my opinion, is one of the greatest Ring cycles of all time, featuring a stellar cast led by Hans Hotter (Wotan), Astrid Varnay (Brünnhilde), Wolfgang Windgassen (Siegfried) and Gustav Neidlinger (Alberich).
