Version 5.0.0
Veröffentlicht 21. Mai 2026 – 159,63 KBFunktioniert mit firefox 142.0 und höher, android 142.0 und höher🛡 New: device-fingerprint blurring. Trackers can recognise your browser from tiny technical details
even after cookies are cleared. wearehere now feeds them slightly-wrong, per-site answers — so the
same browser looks like a different device on every site it can't link together. It's on by default
and your per-site disguise rotates weekly, so you can't be profiled over time either. Covers canvas,
audio, fonts, WebGL and screen/device details.- A few sites don't like it. If a site misbehaves under blurring (usually ones with aggressive
bot-detection), wearehere notices you reloading and offers a one-click relax & reload that turns
blurring off just for that site. - Sites you log into stay stable. Trust a site (or its cookies) and it gets one consistent disguise,
so you don't get logged out or hit "new device" checks.
🔎 Privacy guard. The popup and dashboard now show blurring right next to cookie trimming — surfaces
blurred, cookies trimmed, all in one place. The Watchers list shows how much was shielded against
each company that follows you.
⚡ Better cookie cleanup (since 4.1.1). Cookies are now re-trimmed in real time — the moment a site
re-issues a long-lived tracker cookie, wearehere shortens it again, instead of waiting for the next
scheduled sweep.
🦊 Firefox fixes (since 4.1.1).
- After an update, the popup now shows a clear reload tab / open settings prompt when a site needs
permission re-confirmed, instead of an empty panel.
- Content scripts exit cleanly when the extension reloads — no more console error flood on busy
pages.
- The popup no longer goes blank when you return to a long-idle tab.
- Terms-and-conditions reads no longer flip-flop between "found" and "couldn't find a terms page."
An honest note: blurring raises the cost of tracking — it doesn't make you invisible. It won't beat
privacy-focused browsers like Tor, or bank-grade anti-fraud systems. And wearehere doesn't block ads
or requests — pair it with uBlock Origin for that.Quelltext steht unter der Mozilla Public License 2.0

WHAT'S NEW
Cookie scoper — the new active layer. On a tunable alarm (15min / hourly / 4hr / 12hr) wearehere now:
• caps long-lived cookies at 7 days for untrusted sites
• demotes known analytics + advertising cookies to session-only
• leaves your trusted sites alone (one-click [ Trust 30d / 90d ])
• clears third-party cookies on tab close Result: trackers can't recognise you tomorrow.
Cross-session memory — wearehere now remembers what watched you across every site, not just the page in front of you. The Watchers tab shows who follows you across the web, the Overview tab shows what changed this window (today / week / month / all time), and the Cookie scoper tab shows everything it has tightened or killed for you over time.
Per-watcher attribution — cookies, pixels, clicks, and device-id probes are attributed to the company doing them (Google, Meta, Amazon, …), not just the page they appeared on.
First-run guided tour — a one-time modal explains how the score, watchers, and scoper work in plain language.
Impact line — a green callout on Overview now tells the story in one sentence: "this week wearehere shortened N cookies and demoted M trackers to session-only so they can't recognise you tomorrow."

REDESIGNED
Popup — 8 cards collapsed into 3 focused blocks plus the cookie scoper card. Mechanism vocabulary locked: cookies · pixels · device-id · typing · clicks.
Dashboard — 6 tabs collapsed into 3: Overview, Watchers, Cookie scoper. Network Map, separate Cookies / Network / Terms tabs all folded in or retired.
UNDER THE HOOD
• Migrated to Manifest V3 (Firefox 142+).
• SSRF-guarded ToS fetcher — only public hosts.
• Hardened service-worker lifecycle, serialized storage writes, per-hop redirect re-checks.
• Full 18/18 test suite for the data pipeline.
DESIGN NON-GOAL
wearehere does not block network requests. uBlock Origin does that expertly. We focus on observation + cookie-level intervention. Run both for the strongest privacy stack.
NOTHING CHANGED ABOUT YOUR DATA
Everything still runs locally. No accounts, no telemetry, no remote rule lists. All state in browser storage.
