Über diese Erweiterung
Most "dark mode" extensions invert the page. Inverting is one line of CSS and ruins everything: photos become negatives, blue becomes orange, and any site that already had a dark theme becomes blinding.
This one maps each colour in HSL according to what it is for. Page backgrounds are pulled to true #000000, so the pixels on an OLED panel are genuinely switched off rather than lit dark grey. Text is inverted but capped below pure white, because white on black causes halation and eye strain. Saturated colours, buttons, links, badges, syntax highlighting are left completely alone, and photos and video are never touched.
Sites that already ship a dark theme get the biggest win. YouTube's #0f0f0f, Reddit's #1a1a1b and Discord's #313338 all still light every pixel in the region. Pulling them to true black switches those pixels off while changing almost nothing about how the site looks.
Also included:
• Favicons of tabs you are not looking at are dimmed, with a configurable delay
• Per-site Never-apply and Always-convert lists
• Sliders for black level, grey level and text brightness
No telemetry, no tracking, no ads, no analytics. The only network request it ever makes is fetching a site's own favicon in order to grey it out.
