About this extension
MetaSyn Statistical Converter is a free, browser-local statistical conversion tool for meta-analysis and evidence synthesis.
It helps researchers transform selected already-reported statistical quantities into supported meta-analysis-ready representations while keeping the formula, analysis scale, assumptions, warnings and uncertainty source visible.
Supported operations in version 1.0.4
• Standard error (SE) → sampling variance
• Sampling variance → SE
• Two-sided Wald confidence interval → SE + sampling variance
• OR, RR, HR or rate ratio + two-sided Wald CI → natural-log effect + SE + sampling variance
• Ratio estimate ↔ natural-log ratio estimate
• Natural-log ratio + SE or sampling variance → ratio estimate + Wald confidence interval
Methodological transparency
• Shows the calculation and analysis scale
• Requires explicit acknowledgement for supported Wald-CI reconstructions
• Warns when interval asymmetry may be incompatible with the assumed Wald form
• Keeps full-precision values internally and separates display rounding from calculation
What it does not do
• It does not select the appropriate effect measure for you
• It does not calculate effect sizes from raw 2×2 or continuous-group study data
• It does not estimate means or SDs from medians, ranges or IQRs
• It does not treat t-based, profile-likelihood, exact, bootstrap, Bayesian or one-sided confidence intervals as ordinary Wald intervals
• It does not reconstruct uncertainty generically from P, t, F or z statistics in version 1
Validation
Version 1.0.4 uses the same validated statistical engine as the Chrome/Edge release and passed the predefined 220-case suite: 200 direct cases plus 20 cross-method/round-trip cases. Passing this suite is evidence of predefined test performance, not a universal accuracy guarantee.
Privacy
Calculations run locally in Firefox. The extension has no account system, analytics, advertising, backend API, browsing-history access, content scripts or host permissions, and it does not save calculation history.
