Rtube Watch Party — v1.6.1 Update Notes
Summary
This update adds lightweight technical groundwork for future improvements. No new permissions are required, and there are no changes to how the extension handles user data.

What's changed
1. Client type and version identification (technical groundwork)
When creating or joining a room, the extension now sends two static technical fields to our server: a client type ("extension") and the extension's version number. This is groundwork for future features (such as showing a friendly "please update" message when a critical update is released). It is not tracking or analytics: the fields contain only a fixed string and a version number, and no personal or behavioral data is collected or transmitted.
1. Improved error handling
Added a localized "your version is outdated, please update" message for the rare case when the server requires a newer version, so users see a clear prompt instead of a generic error.
Permissions
No changes. This update uses exactly the same permissions as the previous version.

Privacy
No changes. The extension does not collect, store, or share personal data. The newly added clientType/clientVersion fields are static and non-personal.
