About this extension
Skip Translate Pages automatically redirects you from Google-translated pages to the original website. No more awkward translations, broken layouts, or slow loading through Google's proxy.
When you click a link that goes through translate.goog, this add-on detects it and sends you straight to the real site over HTTPS. It cleans all translation tracking parameters from the URL and correctly rebuilds the original domain name — including websites with hyphens in their address, which other similar extensions often break.
Features:
Intercepts requests to *.translate.goog before the page loads
Reconstructs the real domain from Google's encoded version
Strips out unnecessary translation parameters (x_tr)
Forces HTTPS for a secure connection
Works automatically — no configuration needed
Permissions Justification:
This add-on requires the following permissions:
PermissionReasonwebRequestTo intercept and redirect requests before they reach Google TranslatewebRequestBlockingTo block the original request and redirect it to the real websiteAccess to *.translate.googThe add-on only activates on Google Translate proxy URLs
Data Collection & Privacy:
This add-on does not collect, store, or share any personal data.
No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry
No data is sent to any server
All URL processing happens locally on your device
No cookies, no browsing history access, no form data access
