SnapHD - Download Video HD ("the extension") is a browser extension that helps you download videos, photos, Reels, Stories and audio from Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter) and TikTok.

We do not collect any personal data. The extension runs entirely inside your browser:

• No user data, browsing activity, or downloaded files are ever sent to our servers or to any third party. We do not operate any backend server that receives data from the extension.
• The extension does not use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs.
• Settings you configure (filename format, toggles) are stored only in your own browser profile via Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.sync), and may sync across your own signed-in Chrome devices through your Google account — this data never passes through our infrastructure.
• To detect and download media, the extension reads the page content of the specific site you are visiting (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, TikTok) and fetches the actual media file bytes directly from that platform's own servers/CDN, then saves the file to your device using Chrome's downloads API. This happens locally in your browser; we do not see or store the files, URLs, or content involved.
• Audio/video merging (used for some Facebook downloads) is done locally using an offscreen document running a bundled, offline WebAssembly (ffmpeg) module — no data leaves your device for this step.

Permissions we request and why:
- storage — save your own extension settings locally.
- downloads — save the media you choose to download to your device.
- alarms — keep the background service worker alive during an in-progress download/fetch, and run periodic local cleanup of temporary state.
- offscreen — run the local audio/video merge step without opening a visible window.
- Host permissions (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, TikTok and their CDN domains) — required to detect media on those pages and fetch the media file bytes for the download you request. We do not access any other websites.

Changes: if this policy changes, the update will be posted at this same URL with a new "Last updated" date.
