Spotting Capture by spotting

Spotting Capture is the official Firefox extension for Spotting, an open-source bug reporting platform for QA and engineering teams.

What it does

• Capture screenshots and tab recordings while testing any website
• Record console logs and network requests during a capture session
• Submit bug reports with a title to your Spotting API (self-hosted or your deployment)
• Choose a project (report group) before sending
• Works on normal http:// and https:// pages

Setup

1. Install the extension
2. Open the popup on a website tab
3. Set your API URL, dashboard URL, and public capture key (spk_… from Spotting Settings → Public Keys)
4. Capture, add a title, and send the report

Data & privacy

The extension does not send data to Mozilla or Spotting by default. Reports are sent only when you click Send, to the API URL you configure (typically your own Spotting instance). Captured console/network activity and media are included in reports you submit.

Requirements

• A running Spotting server (API + dashboard)
• A valid public capture key from your Spotting organization
