About this extension
Save In helps you manage and organize your downloads. Right-click any image, video, audio, link, selected text, or page and save it straight into a destination you configure — and let rules you write once sort and rename each file automatically.
Features
A note on folders
Browsers only allow saving into directories relative to the default download directory. You can use a symlink to reach anywhere else:
Make sure the target directory exists, or the download will silently fail.
Privacy and permissions
Save In does not collect or transmit any data — everything is stored and processed on your device. The only exception is integrations you configure (such as webhooks), which send data only to the endpoint you choose.
Requires Firefox 140 or later. Rebuilt with the same stubborn logic it has used since 2017.
Features
- Build a hierarchical destination menu with aliases, separators, submenus, and a last-used location.
- Route and rename downloads with rules based on the page, source URL, filename, media type, date, counters, and other variables.
- Start from searchable rule templates, add matchers with Quick add, insert variables and clauses with autocomplete, and test unsaved rules in the route debugger.
- Use click-to-save for one-click downloads, and Page Sources to find the media a page exposes.
- Optionally save newly discovered Page Sources automatically, with site-scoped rules, private-window controls, and a per-page limit.
- Save links or pages as .webloc or HTML redirect shortcuts.
- Search and filter local download history, with JSON and spreadsheet-safe CSV/TSV export.
- Optionally record matching ordinary Firefox downloads in Save In history.
A note on folders
Browsers only allow saving into directories relative to the default download directory. You can use a symlink to reach anywhere else:
- Windows:
mklink /D C:\path\to\symlink D:\path\to\actual - macOS/Linux:
ln -s /path/to/actual /path/to/symlink
Make sure the target directory exists, or the download will silently fail.
