UI Improvements for Royal Road version history - 3 versions
  • Be careful with old versions! These versions are displayed for testing and reference purposes. You should always use the latest version of an add-on.

  • Latest version

    Version 1.5.4

    Released 24 Aug 2026 - 192.91 kB
Works with firefox 121.0 and later
    • Every reply on a chapter is shown now, however deep the chain. Past the third level Royal Road moves the rest of a conversation behind an "N more replies" button, and that button does nothing on any page infinite scroll had added: it looks the comment up in a list Royal Road builds once, as the page loads, and a reply that arrived later is not in it. Those replies could not be reached at all. They are shown where they were written instead, at any depth.
    • Royal Road's "N more replies" button and its Flat/Focus control go with them. Neither has anything left to do once every reply is on the page, and a button that visibly does nothing is worse than no button. Switching comment threading off under Options -> Chapter pages gives both back.
    • Nothing extra is fetched for any of this. The whole conversation was already in the page Royal Road sent; only a CSS class was hiding it.

    Version 1.5.3

    Released 24 Aug 2026 - 192.52 kB
Works with firefox 121.0 and later
    Fixed
    - The previous-chapter recap no longer shows the whole chapter. It kept "the last three paragraphs" by counting paragraph elements, and some authors write an entire chapter as one paragraph with line breaks between the others - 23 KB in a single element, all of which counted as one. Paragraphs are now read the way they look: a run of two or more line breaks starts a new one, a single one does not.
    - Word counts were short on those same chapters, because a line break contributes no space and the words either side of it merged. One chapter went from 4,034 to 4,159.
    - Text an author has hidden is no longer counted or recapped. Some watermark their prose with invisible copyright lines between the words, which the word count read as prose and the recap could have shown you.
    - A fiction page stays at the top when you have a default review sort. Royal Road answers a sort change by scrolling its reviews into view, which threw you a long way down the page. It now holds its place for a moment, and lets go the instant you scroll yourself.

  • Version 1.5.2

    Released 19 Aug 2026 - 190.89 kB
Works with firefox 121.0 and later
    Fixed
    - The settings page stays where you left it in Chrome. It rebuilt its whole form after every write, so the control you were using was destroyed and replaced mid-change - and Chrome uses the focused element to decide where to hold the page, so it nudged upwards each time you changed a setting. The form is built once now and the controls are updated in place.
    - The popup waits for Chrome before closing itself. Opening the settings page returns a promise there, so the window could shut before the request had been accepted, and a refusal went nowhere.

    Added
    - The settings page and the popup both show which version you are running, read from the extension itself.
