🌐 Aar318's Live Chat Translator: Real-Time Chat Translation

Translate Twitch, Kick, and YouTube Live chat into your chosen language as messages arrive. The extension works directly inside each site's chat, preserves original message nodes, formatting, and emotes, and keeps the original text available when you need it.

🚀 Getting Started

Install the extension, then refresh an open Twitch, Kick, or YouTube Live page.
Left-click the in-chat globe or extension icon to enable incoming translation.
Right-click either in-chat translation control—or long-press it on touch devices—to choose languages, translation mode, profiles, and filters.
To translate an unsent reply, choose an outbound language and click the compact ⇄ button. Optional automatic outbound translation can handle a draft after typing pauses. The extension never sends the message for you.

Outbound Draft Translation: Translate an unsent reply independently from incoming chat—even when incoming translation is disabled—using a fixed language or the most recently detected incoming source language.
Optional Automatic Outbound Translation: Waits for a typing pause, cancels stale drafts, and safely replaces only the draft that still matches the queued text.
Message Filtering: Optionally skip bots, commands, links, emote-only messages, repeats, selected users, or messages outside chosen length limits.
Translation Health and Retries: View Ready, Queued, Translating, Throttled, Disabled, or Error state; temporary provider failures use bounded retries.
Original Text Preserved: Translations retain original message nodes, emotes, spacing, and formatting; translated text can be restored or inspected through its original-text tooltip.
Translate Selected Text: Select text on a supported page, right-click it, and choose Translate selected text for a compact original/translation result.
Easy Controls: Left-click toggles incoming translation; right-click or mobile long-press on either control opens its language and settings menu.
Safe Draft Replacement: Twitch Slate, Kick Lexical, and YouTube Polymer editors use platform-specific, reconciliation-aware replacement paths that never activate Send.
Mobile-Friendly Menus: Touch gestures use stable long-press handling, scrollable choices, viewport clamping, and safe placement around native mobile overlays.
Optional Page Controls: Hide or restore injected controls from the extension menu. Controls stay out of the way during fullscreen and supported native overlays.
Efficient Processing: Skips very short messages, batches requests, caps translation caches and queues, and protects against stale results after settings changes.
Navigation Resilience: Reconnects observers and controls after Twitch, Kick, or YouTube replaces chat containers or navigates without a full reload.

🔐 Permissions & Privacy

Storage: Saves inbound/outbound language choices, automatic-outbound preference, translation mode, channel profiles, filters, last detected incoming language, and injected-button visibility.
Context Menus: Adds extension-icon controls and the user-invoked Translate selected text command.
Host Permissions: Runs only on supported Twitch, Kick, and YouTube pages and allows requests to translate.googleapis.com.
Translation Data: Only eligible chat text or explicitly selected text, together with the target-language code, is sent to Google Translate. Requests omit browser credentials.
Local Data: Chat messages, selected text, translations, and usernames are not written to browser storage. Translation caches exist only in memory for the page session.
No Tracking: No analytics, advertising tracking, or streaming-platform account is required.

ℹ Notes

Incoming translation starts disabled and runs only when the user enables it.
Automatic outbound translation is off by default. Outbound translation replaces an unsent draft but never sends a chat message automatically.
