by Desoya, 2 years agoABP has become the very thing they were fighting against.
Yes, I refer to the Acceptable Ads program, allow me to translate it in a bullshit-free language: ABP make companies pay for the right to bypass (allowed by default ABP extension config) the ads-blocking feature.
In other terms, ABP comes as an extra pay-wall between ads companies and end-users by imposing a new fee for passing "The Acceptable Ads Committee", where the main criteria for "acceptance" is nothing but the dime the advertisers have to pay ABP to let their ads go through. Great, the ads won't be animated, yadi yada, but that's still an ad.
As Rick Sanchez would say, it's just advertisement, with extra steps.

posted 2 years agoHi,
Thank you for your review.
In this program, websites are permited to show certain ads on the page. However, those ads have to be produced according to a series of criterias (ie. not animated, non-intrusive, cannot block content, etc). Websites have to apply join the program and are judged by a committee. This ensures that all pages follow the criteria established.
Users can chose to opt-out from seeing Acceptable Ads at any time in their ABP settings.

- Rated 1 out of 5by ThyBountyHunter, 7 days agoI wish there was a Zero rating, I get a pop up on Edge, saying "We have blocked 5,245,388 ads for you!", here are what is wrong with that.
1. only tried this add on about a year ago and I took it off, so why is it asking me for money?
2. Why is it popping up on edge...I never put an add on there.
3. I never used edge so how can it stop 5,245,388 ads for me when I never used the browser for more than 10 minutes at most, ever.
This add on is a scam, this add on is dangerous.Developer response
posted 6 days agoFor non-Premium users, our payment page displays when we update the extension to keep you informed on changes we've made and as a reminder to consider upgrading to Premium. There is no obligation to upgrade and you can dismiss the page by clicking the "x" on the browser tab. You can also dismiss this page by going to the Advanced tab on your ABP settings and unchecking the box next to "Allow Adblock Plus to show occasional promotional messages." - Rated 4 out of 5by Giuseppe, 7 days agoADBlock mi ha liberato dalla pubblicità che rendeva fastidioso e quasi impossibile navigare
- Rated 5 out of 5by MasterSuperman, 18 days agoI LOVE this extension but for the lase week it has slowed my computer to a CRAWL. I know it is this extension because I turned off all extensions and added them back one at a time. I hope you can pinpoint the problem and fix it quick because I would hate to lose this ad blocker!
