It used to be the best blocker... until recently. Where's the Blockable Items pane??? blocking ads means one has to be able to add or remove filters manually. Once a gem, now a piece of trash.

It blocks the startpage about:blank of Firefox 56.x . The new version Firefox 57 I will NOT install for the horrible unusable new design that can't be changed. So Adblock Plus became unusable for me.

I've rated it 5* because I've gone back to legacy versions of both Firefox and Adblock Plus - now the 'element hiding' option works as it always has done. Firefox 'nags' me to download the latest version (have disabled the automatic download to get round this) so I can enjoy Firefox as it used to be. Hopefully the developers of Adblock Plus will eventually work out how to code with the newest versions of Firefox.
