About this extension
Arn Manga LLM Translator machine-translates manga, manhwa and webtoons in your browser with zero developer servers. Point it at any reader and it will:
Everything except the LLM call runs locally: detection, OCR, panel ordering, drawing, per-page caching and the character book. Revisits are instant because results are content-hash cached.
Works on most image- and canvas-based readers, including single-image readers with preloading. Optional cloud inference offloads detection+OCR to an endpoint you deploy yourself (one-click Colab → your own Modal account) for machines that can't run it locally.
Bring your own key. Keys stay in your browser's local storage and page images are sent only to the endpoint you configure. No accounts, no analytics, no ads.

- Detect speech bubbles and text (comic-text-detector, ONNX) — on your device.
- Read the text with OCR (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, English) or a vision LLM.
- Translate it with the LLM you choose — OpenAI-compatible, OpenAI Responses, Anthropic or Gemini — using your own API key. A character book and recent-page memory keep names, pronouns and tone consistent across a chapter.
- Render the translation back into the original bubbles, in reading order.
