Privacy Policy

1. What we collect
   Account data (optional): email address and bcrypt-hashed password, stored only if you create an account for AI summaries.
   arXiv IDs: sent to our backend to fetch citation counts and generate summaries. We do not log which user requested which paper.
   Saved papers: stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage.sync. Never sent to our servers.
   Payment data: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
2. What we do NOT collect
   Browsing history outside of arxiv.org
   Personal identifiers beyond your email (if you sign up)
   Analytics or tracking pixels
   Any data from pages other than arxiv.org
3. Third-party services
   Semantic Scholar API — used to fetch citation counts. Your IP may be visible to them. Their privacy policy.
   OpenAI — paper abstracts are sent to GPT-4o-mini to generate summaries (premium only). Their privacy policy.
   Stripe — payment processing (premium only). Their privacy policy.
   Upstash Redis — stores account data and cached summaries server-side. Their privacy policy.
4. Data retention
   Account data is retained until you delete your account. Cached summaries expire after 7 days. You can export or delete your saved library at any time from the extension popup.
5. Your rights
   You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing aghribi@gmail.com. We will process the request within 30 days.
6. Changes
   We may update this policy. The date at the top reflects the last change. Continued use of the extension constitutes acceptance.
