Firstly, it does work if you have time and know how to navigate around the complexity of this extension.
It takes approximately 1.7 seconds to delete one single "dupes".
Now, if you have over 13000 duplicates it will take more than 6 hours (with your PC fans whirring) despite the CPU load being at 12%.
Extention doesn't scan ALL your bookmarks (across different folders and subfolders) at once. Even then, it's not detecting duplicate urls within the same folder (most of the time).
In other words, you can have duplicate urls across many different folders but it won't detect them because it can only scan one bookmark folder at a time. There's no option to scan all folders.
There is no real instructions too and it can be very tricky to use. It's overly complex and needs to be simplified.

Do not enable "expert mode".
> It takes approximately 1.7 seconds to delete one single "dupes".
If it takes more than milliseconds (in average) to delete a bookmark, something is wrong on your system. It might be running out of memory. A more frequent cause for big latencies is that another tool is interfering, for instance another bookmark extension.
> Extention doesn't scan ALL your bookmarks (across different folders and subfolders) at once
This is incorrect. The name (path) of bookmarks is completely ignored for detecting duplicates (if expert mode is disabled).
> Even then, it's not detecting duplicate urls within the same folder (most of the time).
Two bookmarks are considered identical if their URL is *exactly* the same string. Only in expert mode, you can configure different rules, but this requires that you specify very precisely what you want to consider matching.
> It's overly complex and needs to be simplified
Specifying different rules than identical strings for URLs *is* a very complex problem and can find unexpected dupes especially for apparently simple rules. This lies in the nature of things. That's why "expert mode" is usually not recommended (unless you really understand regular expressions and carefully read the instructions).

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13409154, 8 days agoI've been on Firefox since soon after it came out; somehow, over the years, I've inadvertently added duplicate, not just of single bookmarks, but of entire bookmark backups. Your addon is what I have needed for years. It cleared out several hundred duplicates. Many thanks! John

- Rated 5 out of 5by SergDom, 2 months agoВеликолепное расширение!
Martin Väth! - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18894841, 2 months agoIt's slow down so much it makes frozen the app. It's waited for10 minutes without any response. It's just about 18000 -24000 bookmarks to process, certainly from several bookmarks from different times.
Interesting fact is the same addon from the same author works perfectly!!! ..in chrome based browsers(time to response fast to not:chrome, brave, vivaldi).Developer response
posted 2 months agoAs already written to quite some comments, the normal deletion speed is several thousands bookmarks per second. A considerable slower speed is almost certainly due to a bad configuration, e.g. another extension which plugs into the bookmark API and takes time for every bookmark deletion. You might want to retry with a plain firefox configuration (after saving and restoring only your bookmarks). BTW, the code for the chrome and firefox extension of Bookmark Dupes is practically identical as you can see on github. - Rated 5 out of 5by Dendetta, 2 months ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by anselmoarantes, 5 months ago

posted 7 months agoThe normal deletion speed is some hundred bookmarks per seconds. If it is considerably slower then very likely the cause is some bad configuration. An example might be another bookmark related addon is installed which slows down the process.- Rated 5 out of 5by Michael, 7 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by SusilaGuy, 8 months agoFantastic! Just what I needed. Reduced my 13,000+ bookmarks to about 3500 and afterward, I was able to delete over 700 empty folders.
I loved that I could choose to retain the most current of each group of duplicates. Thank you. <3
