Privacy Policy — Claude Browser Advance Controls
Last updated: July 1, 2026
Claude Browser Advance Controls ("the Extension") is a browser extension that lets you control your browser using Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant. This policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and who it is shared with.
- Summary
The Extension does not operate its own servers and does not collect data for its developer. All data the Extension accesses stays on your device except when you send a request to Claude — at that point, relevant data is transmitted directly to Anthropic's API using your own API key. You control what the Extension does. It only acts when you type an instruction and send it.
- Information We Access
To carry out the browser actions you request, the Extension can access:
Website content — such as page text, HTML, screenshots, form field values, and selected text. This is accessed when you ask Claude to read, click, fill, or analyze a page.
Browsing activity — such as open tabs, tab titles, URLs, and navigation actions like back, forward, or reload. This is accessed when you ask Claude to manage tabs or navigate.
Authentication-related data — cookies for the active site. This is only accessed when you explicitly ask Claude to read or set a cookie.
Your Anthropic API key — the key you provide during setup. It is stored locally to authenticate requests to Anthropic's API.
Conversation history — your messages to Claude and Claude's responses, including tool actions taken. This is stored locally to maintain conversation context.
- How Information Is Used
Data described above is used only to fulfill the specific task you ask Claude to perform in your browser, such as filling out a form, summarizing a page, or clicking a login button. The Extension does not use your data for advertising, profiling, or analytics. The Extension does not sell or rent your data to any third party.
- Who We Share Information With
Anthropic (api.anthropic.com): When you send a message, the relevant page content, screenshots, or tool results needed to complete your request are transmitted directly from your browser to Anthropic's API, authenticated with your own API key. This exchange is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy (https://www.anthropic.com/privacy) and Commercial Terms of Service (https://www.anthropic.com/legal/commercial-terms).
No one else. The developer of this Extension does not operate a backend server and does not receive, store, or have access to your browsing data, API key, or conversation history.
- Data Storage
Your API key, selected model, and conversation history are stored locally using your browser's built-in sync storage (chrome.storage.sync or the Firefox equivalent), which may sync across your own signed-in browser instances via your browser vendor's account (Google or Firefox Sync), subject to their respective privacy policies. No data is stored on any server operated by the Extension's developer. You can clear your conversation history at any time using the trash icon in the sidebar, or remove your API key from the extension's settings page.
- Your Choices and Controls
API key: You provide and control your own Anthropic API key. You can revoke it at any time from the Anthropic Console (https://console.anthropic.com/settings/keys), which immediately stops the Extension from being able to make requests.
Permissions: The Extension requests broad browser permissions (all URLs, tabs, cookies, scripting) because its core function is general-purpose browser automation at your direction. It does not act without an explicit instruction from you.
Uninstall: Removing the Extension deletes all locally stored data (API key, conversation history, preferences) from your browser.
- Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
- Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the Extension's features change. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
