Close Tab by Regexp keeps unwanted pages from staying open. Write a regular expression, and any tab whose URL matches it closes automatically, both when it opens and when an open tab navigates there. Every pattern lives in one simple rules table.

WHAT IT DOES

• Closes a matching tab the moment it opens, and when an already-open tab navigates to a matching URL.
• Add, enable, disable, and delete rules from one table.
• Turn a rule off temporarily instead of deleting it.
• Per-rule regular-expression flags, such as i for case-insensitive matching.
• Invalid patterns are rejected in the editor, so a typo can never take effect.
• Light and dark themes, following your browser.

EXAMPLES

• Block a whole site: ^https?://(www.)?example.com/ with flag i
• Block short-form video: youtube.com/shorts/ with flag i
• Close insecure pages: ^http://

CAREFUL: a broad pattern such as a single dot matches every URL and closes every tab you open. Test narrow patterns first.

PRIVACY

Your rules are stored on your device using Firefox's built-in extension storage. The extension makes no network requests at all, collects nothing, and sends nothing anywhere. Tab URLs are tested against your rules in memory and are never logged or stored.
