ConvertBruv Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
ConvertBruv is designed with privacy as the core principle. This policy explains what the extension does — and, more importantly, what it does NOT do.
WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT
ConvertBruv does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Specifically:
• We do not collect your files or file contents
• We do not collect your browsing history
• We do not collect your IP address
• We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or telemetry
• We do not use cookies
• We do not require an account or registration
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties (there is no data to sell)
HOW FILE CONVERSION WORKS
All image conversion happens entirely on your device, inside your browser, using the Canvas API and the open-source heic2any library. Your files are never uploaded to any server. No network requests are made during conversion. The extension works fully offline for image conversion.
WHAT WE STORE LOCALLY
The extension uses the browser's local storage API to remember two small preferences on your device only:
• Your last-selected output format (e.g. JPG, PNG, WebP)
• Your UI language setting
This data never leaves your device and is deleted automatically when you uninstall the extension.
PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED
• contextMenus — adds the "Convert image with ConvertBruv" option to the right-click menu on images
• storage — saves your last-selected format and language preference locally
• host_permissions (<all_urls>) — allows the context menu item to appear when you right-click an image on any website. The extension does NOT read, modify, or transmit any page content.
VIDEO, AUDIO, AND PDF FILES
If you drop a video, audio, or PDF file into the extension, you will be redirected to convertbruv.com, where the conversion also happens locally in your browser (client-side). The website does not upload your files to any server either. See https://convertbruv.com/privacy for the website's full privacy policy.
THIRD-PARTY LIBRARIES
The extension bundles heic2any (MIT-licensed, by Yahoo Inc.) for HEIC/HEIF decoding. This library runs locally and does not make network requests.
