Youtube switched to separate audio/video streaming technology for higher quality formats and no longer provides direct 720p (Since 24 September 2018)/1080p/mp3 streams. Converting these streams to downloadable formats for you needs powerful server infrastructure, therefore 1080p/mp3 downloading has been limited to PRO users. Thanks Dishita for bringing this extension that works. In the past I have tried others and one stopped working after some months.
This is a reliable one. I recommend this to anyone.

Excellent in every respect

The extension is still being marketed as "1080p / 256kbps dl capability" but truth is that even 720p is not available for free users anymore. First they cut 1080, then 720p, hiding behind the same excuses to push the PRO version.
This extension did not build its reputation with the paid version. What can you do with 480p videos in 2021?

I had a downloader that worked pretty well, but it stopped working a few days ago due to a YT update, so I gave this one a try. It does everything I need it to do, and nevermind the fact that it asks you to buy the upgrade to DL the Mp3 files. An online search for "audio file extractor" will steer you toward an add-on that can pull an Mp3 out of the Mp4 videos this add-on lets you download. It's an extra step I know, but if you, like me, are flat-broke, you learn to make-do.

For what it's worth, the one-click green button right there on the YT page is nice and convenient.

paid for pro doesnt work. complete trash
