Extension Metadata

About this extension
Annoyed when websites prevent you from selecting or copying text? Can’t extract text from images, PDFs, or Google Docs? Enable Copy Extension gives you back control.

This powerful and easy-to-use browser extension bypasses copy restrictions and includes OCR (text recognition) to extract text from images and protected documents.

Key features

Universal copying: select and copy text from almost any website, even if copying is blocked.

Two working modes:
Standard Mode (default) safely enables copying using CSS and event overrides and works on most websites.
Force Mode (use with caution) applies aggressive techniques for extremely stubborn sites and may break some page features. A page reload may be required after use.

Site whitelist: disable the extension on specific websites where it’s not needed or causes issues. Sites can be added directly from the popup or managed on the Options page.

Simple popup controls: enable or disable the extension globally, switch between Standard and Force modes, start OCR text recognition, add the current site to the whitelist, and manage OCR languages.

OCR languages

To add OCR languages, open Options and go to OCR Languages. Download .traineddata.gz files from the Tesseract OCR GitHub repository. Click “Upload Language File”, select the downloaded file, choose the languages, and start scanning.

Privacy and openness

Enable Copy Extension is fully open source and privacy-focused. No data is collected or transmitted. The source code is available on GitHub.

How it works

The extension modifies CSS rules such as user-select and pointer-events and intercepts JavaScript events that block copying. The OCR feature uses Tesseract.js to recognize text from selected screen areas.

Stop letting websites control how you interact with content. Install Enable Copy Extension and copy freely.

Note: Start with Standard Mode. English OCR is included by default; additional languages must be downloaded separately.
