Fake News Detector 101 respects your privacy and is designed to operate entirely on your local browser with minimal data exchange.

1. Information Collection
   This extension does not collect or store any personal or identifying user data. When you scan a webpage, only the article text and its public URL are sent securely (via HTTPS) to our analysis API (https://fakenewsdetector-zjzs.onrender.com) to perform credibility scoring. No personal information, browsing history, or user identifiers are collected or shared.
2. Data Usage
   The extracted text and URL are used solely for real-time credibility analysis. Results are returned instantly and are not stored permanently on our servers.
3. Account & Authentication
   If you choose to log in, your username and password are encrypted and stored locally in your browser’s storage using JWT authentication. This allows access to optional features such as history view and detailed reports.
4. Cookies and Tracking
   This extension does not use cookies, third-party analytics, or any form of tracking technology.
5. Permissions
   The extension requests access only to active browser tabs and the page content necessary for analysis. These permissions are used exclusively to perform the news verification function.
