by zxMarce, 8 years agoInstalled Floccus and registered an account in OwnDrive to backup bookmarks. The addon never synced.
At the left of the "Options" and "Sync Now" buttons it says "X Error!" and immediately below the buttons an error description says "JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data".
No idea what to do, error is not self-explanatory and does not give any hints regarding which JSON is crippled, nor a dump of such file; checked the GitHub site but could not make heads nor tails of the code (not a JS dev, more of a C# and VB.Net one I am).
Checked account "https://my.owndrive.com/" with my username and password and it browses OK. Would like the author to try an OwnDrive account, as they say it supports NextCloud, and post his findings, or at least a basic tutorial on how to set up Floccus with a third-party server, not just with localhost. I am not really sure of the URL to use; tried several (taken from the site being browsed in Firefox) to no avail. I'm sure I'm the one doing something wrong, but there are no good working examples of Floccus setups in the Mozilla not Addon Home pages.
Using FF 59.0.2 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 16.04.

Thanks a lot for the response.
No, I did not enable or install a Bookmarks app, and my guess is that I would have to do that on OwnDrive.
OwnDrive has its own applet that one would drag to FF Bookmarks to upload, but I guess that is not the one you refer to. Also, no versions given.
Can you help me providing an adequate Bookmarks App link? If it has install instructions for third-party servers like OwnDrive, much better.

Also tried Wolkli, does not even have a Bookmarks secction, looks like they removed it.
None of OwnDrive or Wolkli allow adding apps to their free accounts. So the addon isn't any good to me. It could work for people that have their own NextCloud server, but not my case. Too bad.
In view of this, I'll give 4 stars to the addon.

Su mobile devo rifarmi alla versione app non avendo qui un'estensione (e quindi sul browser mobile non sono sincronizzati).
In ogni caso, tutto sembra funzionare molto bene.
L'unica cosa è che ho dovuto spostare "altri segnalibri" dentro una cartella apposita nella barra dei segnalibri (floccus mi permette di lavorare solo su una directory principale).
Insomma, 5* meritate 👍 - Rated 5 out of 5by mzlaSaoirse, 14 days ago

A good tip for people getting dome duplicates, use the extension to remove dups at first and disable the built-in browser sync for Bookmarks, that way only Floccus will be in charge of the sync for them while the Browser itself handle the forms, passwords, etc, and you prevent duplicates. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17004726, a month ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by Michael, 3 months agoThis add-on works great! I have been looking for an extension like Xmarks for several years after it was shut down by LastPass and this does the job well. It takes a bit of time to set up, but--once it is running--it is amazing. I am able to easily sync between Firefox (and branches), Chrome, Edge, & Brave across two different profiles. Synchronizing with Opera (because of its different structure for bookmarks) ended up making a bit of a mess. Strangely, on Brave, it took what was on the bookmark in every other browser and put it into a folder with folders for other bookmarks all in the bookmark bar. While that one wasn't perfect, having all my bookmarks everywhere is great. Even the mobile app allows for two profiles, which keeps the phone in sync as well.
It would be even better if they would make an extension that would install into Firefox mobile. - Rated 1 out of 5by lolpery, 4 months agoIt worked fine at first, but then it just broke half of my bookmarks.

- Rated 2 out of 5by undefined, 7 months agoI have around 3000 bookmarks. After restructuring them this extension uses 100% of one CPU core and looks like it hanged (nextcloud backend). Also I can't cancel sync.
