About this extension
Geething — multi-account Gmail™ notifications for Firefox. Get a badge counter, desktop notifications with Mark as Read / Archive buttons, and a full inbox popup — all without a backend server. Your data never leaves your device.
Features
• Multiple Gmail™ accounts, each with its own colour, label, and mute toggle
• Badge counter showing total unread across all accounts
• Desktop notifications with one-click Mark as Read and Archive
• Customizable notification sounds
• Popup with per-account tabs, inline email preview, and quick actions (mark as read, star, archive, trash, spam, reply, open in Gmail™)
• Conversation threads — emails in the same Gmail™ thread are grouped together; expand a thread inline to see each message, with per-message and thread-level actions (mark all read, star, archive all, spam, delete all, open in Gmail™); a collapsible thread context panel in the detail view lets you jump to any message in the conversation; threading can be turned off in Settings for a flat view
• Bulk selection — select multiple messages or whole threads and mark them read, archive, or delete in one go
• Optional external image blocking in email previews — keep tracking pixels out if you prefer
• Keyboard shortcuts for power users
• Light, dark, or auto theme
• Configurable poll interval and message limits
⚠ Google "app not verified" warning
When you add a Gmail™ account, Google will show a warning that Geething has not been verified. This is expected. Google charges independent developers thousands of dollars for a mandatory security audit before removing the warning — Geething is a free, open-source project and is not enrolled in that programme.
It is safe to proceed: the full source code is publicly available on GitHub (search "geething"), nothing is hidden or obfuscated, and all Gmail™ access happens directly between your browser and Google's servers. No data passes through any third-party server.
To continue past the warning, click Advanced → Go to Geething (unsafe).
Privacy
No ads. No tracking. No telemetry. OAuth tokens are stored exclusively in Firefox's local extension storage. Email content is fetched directly from the Gmail™ API and never transmitted anywhere else. Access can be revoked at any time from Google Account → Security → Third-party access.
