Hey, you're welcome to keep using the old version - which remains free. Unfortunately I don't have time to maintain both that version and the new extension. It's been free for a year and a lot of time has gone into making it, helping people with technical issues, etc.

You're probably overestimating how much of a commercial venture this is. I don't think this change to a $2 once only payment is going to make much honestly.

Today alone I've created around 100 free licenses for people from all over the world who are having difficulty paying because the exchange rate is too high or because of their individual situation. If you're really unhappy with the change, all you need to do is request free access. Negative reviews don't help anyone I'm afraid.

Anyway, hope that sheds some light on this. I'm not a big company, I'm just one developer.
