    • Fixed a Firefox regression where View in GooWi on PDFs and other protected browser surfaces could fail to open the GooWi sidebar automatically.
    • Fixed repeated View in GooWi selections on those surfaces not updating an already-open sidebar immediately.

    No new permissions or host permissions were added.

    • Improved contextual Wikipedia matching. View in GooWi uses context more effectively while giving specific link destinations priority over broader matches.
    • Better handling of qualified and ambiguous searches. Supported identity qualifiers, including lowercase forms, help distinguish the intended topic while preserving literal titles and Wikipedia disambiguation pages.
    • More conservative results when evidence is insufficient. Recognized exclusions and qualified requests receive stronger checks. Supported two-person and friendship searches are less likely to return an article that merely mentions the people involved. GooWi may stay silent rather than show a misleading match.
    • Improved links in Chrome and Edge. Google redirect routing paths are no longer mistaken for Wikipedia topics.
    • New GooWi visual identity and browser icon.
    • Cleaner no-match presentation. Ordinary unsuccessful lookups show only “No confident Wikipedia match found.” Detailed diagnostics remain available in the developer console.
    • GitHub homepage. Extension homepage links, including Firefox's developer link, point to the GooWi repository.

    GooWi v1.0.0 — First Stable Public Release

    GooWi v1.0.0 promotes the fully tested v0.8.1 codebase to the first stable general-public release.

    Since the previously listed Firefox version, GooWi has gained:

    View in GooWi — highlight text on a webpage, right-click, and open the selection in GooWi without changing the underlying page.
    Firefox PDF and protected-reader support through a native Firefox sidebar fallback.
    A 75-character selected-text limit with clear feedback for overly long selections.
    Improved Wikipedia matching for aliases, redirects, formal names, disambiguation pages, and likely typos.
    Safer relevance filtering designed to prefer no result over a misleading article.
    Wikipedia hatnotes, clarification links, and representative images.
    Internal Wikipedia navigation that leaves the underlying Google query unchanged.
    Random Article, expand/restore reading mode, and Wikirace with a 10-click initial challenge and optional overtime.
    A centered ♡ Donate to Wikimedia link.
    Internal namespace cleanup from legacy development identifiers to GooWi-native naming.

    GooWi remains free, open source, and independent. It contains no analytics, ads, telemetry, accounts, persistent identifiers, or developer-operated backend.

    v1.0.0 is a version-number promotion of the tested v0.8.1 codebase; no functional changes were introduced solely for the 1.0 promotion.

    This release also includes Firefox 140+ built-in consent for required search-term transmission, public privacy documentation, open-source licensing, and automated Mozilla web-ext validation.
