- Rated 1 out of 5by FFOSS, 4 hours agoLies from the first letter. Calls itself "privacy-friendly" but requires full access to everything at all times.
The first message you see in the app is "trust me, bro, I don't sell your data I store on my remote server. Honest..."
It's a very commercial closed source app that tries to sell you a whole bunch of useless "pro features", so trying to spin it like it won't sell your interests (i.e. your favorite websites) to the highest bidder like Google or Facebook to store as your digital fingerprint isn't very believable.
In the app description the dev also tries to sneakily "affiliate" himself with Mozilla, but in reality Mozilla just thanked him for being (too) active on their forum and posting replies literally under every post, nothing else.
There are tons of actually privacy-friendly extensions on this website, but this one ain't one of them.Developer response
posted 4 hours agoHello,
When you say "Lies from the first letter", do you refer to your text?
Because that's what it looks like to me :D.
Permissions system is complicated, I've tried to describe it here:
https://github.com/fastaddons/GroupSpeedDial/blob/master/PERMISSION_JUSTIFICATION.md
Regarding selling users data to Facebook / Google - you think they need more data? Google literally build a Chrome, they have all the browser data they can dream of.
Note that my extension is manually reviewed by Mozilla stuff before each update, I've wrote about that here:
https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/addons-store-should-show-which-addons-are-quot-actively/idi-p/88832
Why such a hostile attack though?
I'm just a normal full time addon developer with low income that develops this addon for 9 years and you attack me here like I'm some kind of a criminal.
Why?
Best Regards,

posted 3 months agoHello,
Group Speed Dial version 26.0 is still compatible with Firefox ESR 115, you can install it from here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/groupspeeddial/versions/
(click the "[Download file](https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/file/4348052/groupspeeddial-26.0.xpi)" below the change log)
Sadly, I can no longer bring back support in the current version of my addon due to missing JavaScript features in Firefox ESR 115. Even the newer ESR 128 is getting too old and in a few months will be replaced with Firefox ESR 140.
But the version 26.0 should work fine.

posted 4 months agoHello,
Well, I've been developing it full time for over 7 years now with minimal income, so the money keeps me and my many addons alive.
If I had a normal job as a programmer instead, this addon wouldn't exist or the features would be only very basic.
I know it sucks... but unless I find a big sponsor, there is just no other way to fund the development.
I'm sorry for the bad news :(

posted 4 months agoHello,
It looks like you are trying to import HTML file using a wrong import field (one that accepts only JSON file type).
Try to use the import field under the "Chrome bookmarks / Opera bookmarks (speed dial)".
That should be able to handle HTML file.
If it still doesn't work, please contact me to my support email ([email protected]) with more details - specifically, how was the HTML file created.

posted 4 months agoHello,
Try a different "Group layout" - first right click a group name, then select "Edit group".
There you can choose between several layout, some allows you to specify number of rows / columns, and in some you can choose the exact size of the tiles.
Some incomplete documentation is also here:
https://github.com/fastaddons/GroupSpeedDial/wiki/Group-layouts
