- Rated 4 out of 5by TORO, 7 years agohello, very nice speeddial but,... for example if I want nice thumbnails with full width and without ads I must first set default zoom in browser and use slow "refresh by visiting page" option... please look at FVD they doing this in background with respecting browser settings like adblocker and web snapshot in thumbnails are big. But still this is great addon. Thanks

posted 7 years agoHello,
There will be a new background refresh that will work exactly as you mentioned.
I'm not sure when exactly, but it's planned.
Until it's done, you can at least tweak one value - in Options page / Thumbnails / "Default virtual page width". By default it's 1280 - like old notebook screens. You can try to increase it to 1920 - but I'm not sure if it's gonna be better (not a lot of webs is properly optimized for FullHD).

- Rated 2 out of 5by Jezze, 7 years agoWhy doesn't this add-on use my existing bookmarks to display links and folders as tiles. It makes absolutely no sense to have another bookmark manager! Is there even an import function?
Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Yes there is import feature - in the Options page / Import backup tab - see the "Import dials from Firefox bookmarks '.json' file" option.
The synchronization with bookmarks is planned feature and it will come in the future. But it was not requested by many users as other features.
Have a nice weekend :)

posted 7 years agoHello,
This is most probably known Firefox Sync. issue - if you setup GroupSpeedDial as homepage on several devices - with Firefox sync. enabled - Firefox will synchronize wrong URL (every add-on has different URL on different device).
I reported this bug a long time ago and it should be fixed in current Firefox (make sure you use at least Firefox 60 on all your devices):
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1412083
What should help is excluding Homepage from synchronization:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/919674
(basically just go to "about:config" page and change setting "services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.startup.homepage" to false)
If this doens't help, please contact me to my support e-mail.

Damn, found the config. Thanks :)Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Firefox 66 is now migrating add-ons data to a new storage and there can be cases when you loose you data:
https://www.ghacks.net/2019/02/16/firefox-extensions-to-use-different-storage-type-in-firefox-66/
If this is the case, go to dials page / click the upper right corner menu and select "History / backups" - these backups are stored in a different storage and should not be affected by the migration.
If this doesn't help, please contact me to my support e-mail.
Also note that downgrading Firefox will also clear your addons data (https://www.ghacks.net/2018/08/06/dont-downgrade-firefox-63/)

Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Make sure you are using at least Firefox 60. Also Android is not directly supported - but once you create cloud account, you can access your dials through cloud even on android.
