KanaMail is an email encryption browser extension created by Kana.

Your encrypted messages and keys remain on your device.



3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

To function properly, KanaMail stores limited information locally in your browser using Chrome/Firefox storage APIs.

This may include:

• Locally generated encryption keys
• Extension settings and preferences
• Basic configuration data required for encryption features

This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to Kana servers.



4. How Encryption Works

KanaMail performs end-to-end encryption locally inside your browser.

This means:

• Emails are encrypted before they leave your device
• Emails are decrypted only on the recipient’s device
• Kana cannot read your messages
• Email providers cannot read encrypted messages

KanaMail has no technical ability to access your encrypted content.



5. Permissions Usage

KanaMail requires certain browser permissions to function:

Storage – to store encryption keys and settings locally.

Scripting / Host access – to integrate encryption into supported webmail pages.

Active tab – to interact only with the email page when you use the extension.

Notifications – to provide security and status alerts.

These permissions are used solely to provide encryption functionality and are never used for tracking or profiling.



6. Data Sharing

KanaMail does not share, sell, or transfer user data to third parties.

We do not use:

• Advertising trackers
• Analytics trackers
• Third-party data brokers

If analytics are ever added in the future, this policy will be updated and users will be clearly informed.



7. Security

KanaMail follows privacy-by-design principles:
