LEXA translates web pages and images in the browser using an API key that you provide. LEXA is not the Syntagma workspace app. Installing LEXA does not create a Syntagma account.

What we store on your computer
Settings, glossary, translation cache, and your API key are saved in chrome.storage.local on this Chrome profile. Syntagma does not receive this storage. You can clear it from LEXA Settings or by removing the extension.

What leaves the browser
When you turn translation on, LEXA sends page text (and cropped image tiles, if you enabled image translation) to the LLM HTTP API you configured: Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, or another endpoint you paste. That provider’s privacy policy then applies. If you use a local server (Ollama, LM Studio), the request stays on your machine.

We do not operate a LEXA cloud that logs which pages you read.

What we do not do
We do not sell user data. We do not use translation content for advertising. We do not execute JavaScript downloaded from the network. We do not require a Syntagma login for the extension.

Permissions
storage — local settings and key. activeTab and scripting — inject packaged translation code into the tab you asked to translate. contextMenus — right-click translate. Host access — any site you choose to translate, plus fetching images from their CDNs and calling your chosen API host.
