Once installed, the add-on automatically does its job every time you visit the YouTube website. There is no extra work involved to make it function, just install and forget.

Side note: If your computer does not support VP9 or AV1 video decoding, know that you can use an extension such as "h264ify" in conjunction with "Lightweight YouTube" for an even smoother playback experience! If you don't know what this means, then it's probably a good idea to install "h264ify" alongside this extension either way, because it can only improve your playback performance.
