    Version 0.6.3

    Released Sep 10, 2026 - 126.12 KB
Works with firefox 142.0 and later
    magicPin 0.6.3

This release fixes several situations where your saved pinned tabs could be lost, and adds a way to recover when a restore is interrupted.

Your saved pins are no longer overwritten by an empty session. If Firefox starts without your pinned tabs — after a crash, a failed session restore, or a profile problem — magicPin used to save that empty state over your device's set. It now keeps what it had and tells you so in the footer, so you can restore instead of losing them.

Restore your own device's set. The Restore button now appears on your own device row, so you can pull your saved pins back onto the device that saved them. It still asks twice before closing anything.

Recover from an interrupted action. magicPin now saves a checkpoint before Replace or Merge changes any tabs. If an action can't finish — a container that doesn't exist on this device, a privileged about: page — the popup offers Recover pins from interrupted action. A failed Undo can now be retried instead of losing what it was going to restore.

Reinstalls no longer adopt another device's record. Previously a reinstall could take over the saved record of a different device that happened to have the same pins. It now always creates its own entry.

Backups keep everything. Imported backups preserve full URLs, titles and set names — long ones used to be cut short, and large backups partly dropped. A set too large for Firefox's sync storage is now reported and skipped instead of failing the whole import, and an empty backup file is reported rather than appearing to succeed.

Clearer errors. A failed save and a failed restore are now reported separately, so one no longer hides the other.

Requirements changed. magicPin now requires desktop Firefox 142 or later (previously 140). Firefox for Android is no longer listed: its storage.sync doesn't sync extension data to your Firefox Account, so magicPin can't work there.
