INTRODUCTION

MaskScript is a browser extension that runs user-created JavaScript and CSS rules on matching webpages.

MaskScript does not operate remote servers, require authentication, or use analytics.

MaskScript does not transmit user scripts, settings, URLs, or browsing data to external servers.

DATA WE PROCESS

MaskScript processes:

• User-created JavaScript and CSS code
• Rule names, URL patterns, and rule configuration
• The active tab URL for matching rules
• Extension settings and interface preferences
• Deleted rules retained in the local trash

Active tab URLs are processed locally only to determine which user rules should run. URLs are not transmitted to external servers.

HOW WE USE DATA

This data is used only to provide the extension's core functionality, including storing and managing rules, matching rules to webpages, running user scripts, and remembering interface preferences.

LOCAL STORAGE

Rules, deleted rules, and settings are stored locally in the user's browser using chrome.storage.local and browser localStorage.

MaskScript does not upload this data to a remote server.

DATA SHARING

MaskScript does not sell, transfer, or share user data with third parties.

MaskScript does not use analytics, advertising, tracking, or external authentication services.

USER SCRIPTS AND SAFETY

MaskScript executes JavaScript and CSS supplied or imported by the user.

These scripts may access or modify content on webpages that match their configured URL patterns.

Users should only create or import code from sources they trust.

MaskScript itself does not download or execute remotely hosted code.

DATA RETENTION

Data remains stored locally until the user:

• Deletes it
• Permanently empties the local trash
• Clears the extension's data
• Uninstalls the extension

USER CONTROL

Users can:

• View and edit rules
• Enable or disable rules
• Export or import rules
• Move rules to the local trash
• Restore deleted rules
• Permanently delete rules
• Delete all locally stored extension data
