PDF Dark Mode Reader v3.0.0 — Major Update
We are excited to announce version 3.0.0 of PDF Dark Mode Reader! This major release transforms the extension into a fully-featured, premium PDF reading experience while retaining our strict 100% offline, privacy-first architecture.
✨ New Features- HD Rendering Engine
Retina/High-DPI Support: The underlying PDF rendering engine now respects your monitor's pixel density. PDFs and sidebar thumbnails render in crystal-clear HD on high-resolution displays.
Zero Memory Bloat: A rewritten rendering pipeline completely eliminates memory leaks by explicitly cleaning up internal font/image caches when pages are scrolled out of view.
2. Smart Bookmarks & Table of Contents
Bookmark Current Page (Ctrl+D): Save your exact spot in any document with a single click.
Persistent State: The extension uses a SHA-256 hash of the PDF to remember your bookmarks, zoom level, current page, and theme preference for every individual document you read across sessions.
Interactive Outline: If your PDF contains a built-in Table of Contents, it is automatically extracted and displayed in the sidebar for one-click navigation.
3. Productivity & Focus Tools
Focus Mode (F): Dim all UI elements and toolbars with a single click to immerse yourself entirely in the document.
Read Aloud / Text-to-Speech (T): An integrated TTS engine reads the text on the page out loud, perfect for accessibility or multitasking.
Reading Progress Bar: A sleek progress bar at the top of the screen visually tracks how far along you are in the document.
4. Premium Aesthetic Upgrades
New Iconography: A brand new transparent moon logo that looks stunning in the browser toolbar.
Refined Toolbar: The navigation toolbar has been rewritten using flexible layouts, preventing overlapping buttons and providing a modern, glassmorphic feel.
Upgraded UI Assets: Replaced legacy monochrome icons with modern, gradient-infused SVG assets.
🛠 Core Features (Always Included)
Multi-Theme Support: Choose from Classic Dark, Warm Dark (Claude), Blue Dark, Green Dark, Sepia, or High Contrast.
100% Local Processing: No accounts, no cloud sync, no tracking. Your files never leave your device.
Native Keyboard Shortcuts: Full support for keyboard navigation (arrows, J/K scrolling, zoom shortcuts).
Cross-Browser Manifest: Fully compatible with both Chrome (Manifest V3 Service Workers) and Firefox.Source code released under MIT License
