by wolfgang8741, 4 years agoA welcome email relay service which may improve tracing down data breach origins, but a usability issues exists where premium subscribers using the Firefox extension and selecting "Generate Alias" generates not with the subdomain at this time which is the only reason to remove a star from an otherwise five star extension.
While the primary objective of the relay may be privacy, use cases such as data breach and contact information resale tracing are possible with these custom email aliases. Being able to track which site a custom alias is associated means being able to trace a breach or sale to the original account. (I'm not as concerned with privacy with subdomain use as I am excited about traceability of data sharing origins)

posted 4 years agoHi wolfgang8741, thank you for the kind review and the feedback. For the subdomain aliases, they're really great because they're is no need to have the add-on actually generate them, you can easily create them on the fly. For example if you're on your favorite music streaming site you can just type in for the email [email protected] and emails will start flowing through to that alias. Or if you're on a news site you could do [email protected]. We created the subdomain feature for convenience in creating an alias, especially in person or when you're on a mobile app and don't have easy access to the add-on. We do encourage you to use random generated aliases as much as you can though, as a randomly generated alias has a lot more privacy benefits. Thank you!

- Rated 5 out of 5by Lilith D. Bracken, 18 days agoFirefox Relay is a really useful tool for protecting your email and privacy. It lets you create email aliases that forward to your real inbox, so you can sign up for websites without sharing your personal address. It helps reduce spam and keeps your real email safer from hackers. Simple to use, works automatically, and makes managing online accounts much more secure.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13690719, 2 months agoI've been using Mozilla and DuckDuckGo privacy services for years, and subscribing when that is available. Mozilla and DDG are both doing a great job protecting our privacy and our inboxes. A fan of both, I have to say that Mozilla have nailed this one - it is so simple, so transparent and so well-integrated into online workflows. I've seen the complaints of others - domain denied, no amazon login, ... - and can report that at least today these are no longer issues. Great job, Mozilla!!

The tab key is much easier when your command icon is not aligned with it. Please provide the option for a better rating.
- Rated 2 out of 5by Mark Phire, 3 months agoIt's something good to be able to block your e-mail address, but some websites give an error message that says "this domain is not allowed". But also others can use it for spam and block their e-mail address as well.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Błażej, 3 months agoMy mail uses my surname so I don't wanna use it when logging on some stuff that I don't know if I can trust, that's why I'm grateful mozilla for making this addon. It may not work on every site because sites like blocking mails other than Gmail, Outlook etc. but there's nothing we can do about that.
