by Firefox user 13229375, 8 years agoI have been using a different tab renaming add-on for many years but it stopped working with FF 55. What I loved about that one was when you renamed a tab, it was permanent regardless of if you navigated to a different URL within that tab. Is there a way to make the new name stick as I'm clicking on various links within the tab (which right now will make the chosen name disappear)? For example, it's pretty useless to name a tab "YOUTUBE" but have it disappear every time you click on a new video. I want the tab name to remain "YOUTUBE" no matter what. Any chance of adding this feature?
It would also be nice to just right-click the tab to rename it as suggested by the review before mine. The old add-on I used had that.

- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 18999368, 8 months agoWish it worked. Looks like Firefox blocks it now (2025). No extension icon, so even though it's loaded, there is no way to actually use it. Would be better to have it accessed in the right-click menu on a tab, but perhaps that's not possible.

My only problem with it is that it doesn't work for pdf files - but I've found this problem with other tab renaming extensions as well. Is changing the tab title of a pdf generally impossible in firefox?

It’s more for my needs. - Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 17290971, 4 years agoI compared this addon with "Tab ReTitle" (https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/tab-retitle/?utm_source=addons.mozilla.org&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=search).
This one is quite limited. The custom name is gone even if a small part of the URL changes (for example: you open a price comparison site and add another product). This way, it is not useful for me. The other addon "Tab ReTitle" has several options how persistent a new name should be.
