Volume Booster - Boost your audio volume easily by RealUnfazed

Volume Booster lets you boost the audio of your current Firefox tab from 100% up to 600%, with real-time volume control and an optional limiter to reduce distortion and clipping. It remembers settings for individual tabs and requires no account, external server, or cloud service.

Volume Booster is a lightweight extension for increasing the volume of audio and video playing directly inside Firefox. Whether a video is too quiet, a website has low audio levels, or you simply need more volume than the normal level provides, Volume Booster gives you direct control over the amplification level.

The boost level can be adjusted from 100% to 600%. At 100%, audio remains at its normal level, while higher values increase the gain applied to supported media.

The control can be changed while audio is playing, allowing you to find the desired volume level without reloading the page.


Increasing volume significantly can cause audio peaks to clip and produce distortion. Volume Booster includes an optional dynamic limiter that helps control excessive peaks when using higher amplification levels.

For high boost levels, keeping the limiter enabled is recommended.


Volume Booster stores settings separately for individual tabs, allowing different tabs to use different volume levels. Your configured settings are stored locally using Firefox's extension storage.


Volume Booster uses the Web Audio API to process supported audio and video elements directly within the webpage.

Media is routed through an audio processing pipeline where the volume gain can be increased and, when enabled, dynamic compression can be applied before the processed audio reaches your speakers.

The extension detects media elements dynamically, allowing audio and video elements created after the page has loaded to be processed as well.


Volume Booster does not require an account, registration, or external service. It does not send your audio or browsing activity to a remote server.

Settings are stored locally through Firefox's extension storage. Website access is required so the extension can detect and process supported audio and video elements on webpages.


Volume Booster cannot operate on Firefox's restricted internal pages, including about:, moz-extension:, resource:, and other browser-controlled pages.

Some websites may not work correctly because of browser-enforced Web Audio and cross-origin security restrictions. In particular, media hosted on another origin may produce silence when processed if the media server does not provide the required CORS permissions.

Page navigation also resets the active audio processing state because the webpage and its audio context are recreated when the page loads.
