Privacy policy for Shabdabhav
Shabdabhav by Hardik Patel
Shabdabhav (the "Extension") reads web pages or text you select aloud using our text-to-speech service. This policy describes what data is collected and why.
Data we collect
Install identifier — a random UUID generated on your device to register the Extension with our API. It is not linked to your name or email unless you contact support.
Page URL — the address of the page you ask to read, used for audio caching so repeat requests are faster.
Extracted text — plain text from the page or your selection, sent to our servers only when you explicitly trigger "Read this page" or "Read selection."
Browser metadata — browser name, extension version, and user-agent string at registration.
Usage events — whether audio was served from cache, TTS mode (full page vs selection), and timestamps for service improvement.
Data we do not collect
We do not browse pages in the background without your action.
We do not collect passwords, form fields, or payment data.
We do not sell personal data to third parties.
How data is used
Authenticate your Extension install (API token).
Generate and cache text-to-speech audio.
Enforce rate limits and prevent abuse.
Improve reliability and cache hit rates.
Where data is stored
Data is processed on GyanStream API servers you configure (production: gyan-api.vistrix.in). Audio files are stored in private object storage (S3-compatible). Metadata is stored in PostgreSQL. Optional analytics may be written to ClickHouse.
Data retention
Cached audio and page metadata are retained until evicted by cache policy or deleted by operators. You may revoke your API token by reinstalling the Extension or contacting support.
Third parties
Text-to-speech inference runs on Shabdabhav infrastructure operated by the service provider. No page content is sent to advertising networks.
Your choices
Use the Extension only when you choose to read a page or selection.
Change or disable the API URL in Extension settings (self-hosted deployments).
Uninstall the Extension to stop further data collection.
Children
The Extension is not directed at children under 13.
