Simple = Select + Search by Diego Presno
Select some text, right-click, and search it on the engines you choose. Add any site as an engine, group them into folders, switch between sets from the toolbar, or fire your whole set at once with Search Everywhere. Free, and free since 2011.

About this extension
After multiple requests, here's a port of this extension to Firefox.
Select some text. Right-click. Search it — on the engine you actually wanted.
If a site has a search box, it can live in your right-click menu: run a search on it, copy the address, and swap your term for
%s. Or skip the fiddling — the built-in catalogue has 100+ ready-made engines to add in a click. What else it does
- Search Everywhere — one selection, every engine in your set, one tab each.
- Folders — group your engines, nest them up to five deep.
- Sets — separate collections like Work, Personal and Research, switchable from the toolbar.
- Drag-and-drop reordering, and your rules: new tab or new window, private window per engine.
What's new in v3 — a complete, ground-up rewrite: nested folders (asked for since 2014), multiple sets, the catalogue, and a migration that brings your old engines across automatically — keeping your old settings as a backup it never deletes.
Free, since 2011. Everything above is free, and stays free. Pro comes later, in v3.1, for the pieces that need real upkeep.
About your data: the text you select never reaches us — it goes to the engine you picked, by ordinary navigation. The extension counts usage pseudonymously in Google Analytics; the text you search is never in there. Full detail in plain language: https://simpleselectsearch.com/privacy
I built this in 2011 with a baby in one arm. It's still mostly me, nights and weekends. Thank you for using it.
