Privacy Policy for Tawfiq
Last Updated: March 11, 2026
Tawfiq is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use the Tawfiq browser extension.
1. Data Collection
Tawfiq does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
- We do not track your browsing history.
- We do not collect your IP address or any identifying information.
- No data is ever sent to external servers.
2. Local Processing
All content filtering and blocking happen locally on your device.
- The list of blocked domains and keywords is stored within the extension's local files.
- Any "Custom Blocked Domains" you add are stored strictly within your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) and never leave your computer.
3. Permissions Justification
Tawfiq requires specific permissions to function correctly:
- declarativeNetRequest / declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess: Used to intercept network requests and redirect the browser away from blocked content at the system level. This is the most privacy-respecting way to block content.
- <all_urls>: Necessary to ensure the extension can protect you across the entire internet, regardless of which website you are visiting.
- storage: Used solely to save your custom blocklist settings locally.
4. Third-Party Sharing
Since we do not collect any data, we do not share, sell, or trade any information with third parties.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
6. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact the developer via the official extension support channel.
