The Hallway Ends Twice is a self-contained metaphysical horror puzzle about surveying a building that obeys every measurement separately and no measurement together.

You are the night surveyor assigned to Building C. Five floors have been reported as structurally ordinary. The service corridor disagrees. Its length belongs to the direction of measurement. Chalk migrates between surfaces without moving. A knock can arrive before the action that caused it. A doorway missing from a photograph still possesses depth. The final floor waits for the surveyor to complete it by description.

Each chapter presents a concise maintenance instruction and one architectural rule to discover. Select among three doors, turn around, wait, or use four field instruments: tape measure, survey chalk, instant camera, and contact microphone. Observations are recorded on the field sheet. Once enough evidence has been established, choose and open the exit that satisfies the instruction.

Opening an unsupported or incorrect door returns the surveyor to the same light from the opposite direction. Repeated discrepancies lead to different endings, but never replace the authored puzzle logic with a random failure. A sealed hint is available for every floor.

The perspective corridor is rendered locally on Canvas from the current deterministic game state. Light instability and geometric offsets respond to accumulated discrepancies. The animation loop redraws only the canvas; it does not rebuild the surrounding controls or field record.

Optional room tone and instrument cues are synthesized locally with Web Audio after the user enables sound. No audio file or external asset is loaded.

Progress is stored in localStorage within the extension origin. A survey can be restarted at any time. The complete campaign has five authored floors, bounded evidence logs, eight terminal failure states, and three possible final classifications.
