- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19536311, 8 days agoit is good and fast but there needs to be an option where you can change what year of youtube you want the layout to be like 2008, 2010, 2017 etc

- Rated 5 out of 5by Daniele, 11 days agoA nostalgic and more practical UI for YouTube, much better than the modern one.
- Rated 2 out of 5by Barrett Ray, 13 days agoIt's a nice extension. But why is this not open source? It has bugs (that I'd like to fix), but the source isn't available unless you basically reverse engineer their JavaScript, and the license simply says "all rights reserved".
tl;dr: weird license and kinda buggy
---
edit: I want to fix the bugs I've found, but there's no way to do so.
But even more important? I don't like using closed source extensions, especially when they access stuff like my Google account.
It just feels wrong, man.
Anyway, you're right that my response was a little immature; I updated the text to be more clear about what I meant.Developer response
posted 12 days agoHello,
There is no reason to talk like that about a project made by 2 students in their free time, please behave accordingly in the future.
You can submit a bug report either in our Discord community or via email "[email protected]"
V3 states clearly in both license and extension manifest/userscript header what google-based URLs can be accessed, it does not make any other type of request on your behalf, it only requests official Google APIs endpoints.
You can also check with any logging mechanism (either a dedicated program or even a Fetch/XHR hook) what requests it makes and what data they include (the same as any official client). - Rated 2 out of 5by Max, 15 days agoUnfortunately, the extension is incompatible with the Dearrow extension, which is VERY unfortunate, since it is one of my favourite YouTube extensions. It is also quite buggy - it often just straight up doesn't load any videos and I am forced to disable the extension. I tried getting help with this problem last year, but I still didn't get a response. One of the only advantages of this extension over YouTube Redux is that it actually does change the video UI.

posted 12 days agoHello,
This can only be solved by submit a ticket to the developer of the extension to add support for old YouTube DOM structure. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 14429173, 25 days agoYou did absolutley a great job on this, I only ask a little favor...could you please remove the Breaking news, recommendation, subscription recommended and all stuff like that? Thank you in advance
ps: I usually use Unhook for Firefox, but the two extensions seems to be incompatibleDeveloper response
posted 12 days agoHello,
This could be added only as an optional config, if this is what you meant, or you can submit a ticket to the developer of the extension to add support for old YouTube DOM structure. - Rated 5 out of 5by Brawl, a month ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19458972, 2 months agoI'm not even kidding, I made a Firefox account just to review this. Never have I enjoyed a Firefox extension so much. First off, for nostalgic purposes, if you grew up watching Youtube as a kid from 2010 to 2013 like I did you should feel right at home. It's nearly an exact copy and actually implements some of the better modern features too. I have been DREAMING of an extension that converts modern Youtube from the crappy pre-2017 redesign to the original. And it's fantastic. Most importantly, PERFORMANCE IS INCREDIBLE. I have no idea how they did it. Performance shot up by at least 50% on my gaming PC, and around 30 to 40% on my old Macbook Pro. It's actually usable on older machines now. No need for Invidious which is hit or miss. The website is snappy now.
We need more extensions like these for major websites. It is incredible. I miss how fast the old web used to be.
If you are looking for a drastic speed increase for Youtube and an (arguably) better layout with some nostalgia, install this. Now. It's amazing. Devs, never stop working on this. You guys are awesome. - Rated 5 out of 5by JulioGouvea200, 2 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Jare, 3 months agoAbsolutely goated add-on. I thought it was nigh impossible, or at least extremely tedious, to do this (and perhaps it was lol).
YouTube's massive redesign in 2017 was severely disappointing and I've been dying to find a functioning add-on for Mozilla that reverts YT back to any of its former UIs.
More than three large thumbnails fit on the homepage at a time, lack of shorts, generally more functional, etc!

posted 12 days agoHello,
The 3-DOT item submenu has been implemented on the watch page and we are currently looking into custom solutions to add it to every page.
