Privacy policy for VideoLens — YouTube Video Summaries
VideoLens — YouTube Video Summaries by Astra Devs
Full privacy policy: https://videolens.io/privacy
VideoLens processes video-related data only after the user starts an analysis.
Private mode: the user's OpenAI API key is stored only in Firefox's local extension storage and sent only to OpenAI. Selected video frames, audio or captions, the active page title, the user's prompt, and follow-up questions are sent directly from Firefox to OpenAI for the requested analysis. VideoLens servers do not receive this analysis content.
Pro mode: if the user explicitly connects a VideoLens account, VideoLens stores a limited account token locally. Analysis content is sent through VideoLens and Vercel AI Gateway to the configured AI provider, currently OpenAI. Raw frames and audio are not retained. Saving a completed report to the user's cloud library is optional and disabled by default. The account email is used for account access, billing, and entitlements, not marketing.
The extension reads the active page URL and title only on the page where the user invokes it. Completed reports, timelines, and follow-up answers are stored locally in IndexedDB, are not synced by VideoLens, and can be deleted by the user. Local data is removed when the extension is uninstalled.
VideoLens does not sell personal information, use analysis content for advertising, or collect unrelated browsing history. Users can remove their API key, disconnect Pro, delete local reports, or delete optional cloud reports through the provided controls.
