Privacy Policy — Vox Issue Relay

The relay sends screenshots from your browser to Vox Issue for Mac on the same computer. Nothing leaves your machine, and we receive nothing at all.

This policy covers the Vox Issue Relay browser extension for Chrome, Chromium-based browsers and Firefox. The Mac app it talks to is covered by the App Privacy Policy (https://voxissue.com/privacy.html); the standalone Chrome extension has its own policy (https://voxissue.com/privacy-extension.html).

Tiny Electrons LLC ("Vox Issue", "we", "us") makes Vox Issue Relay, a small browser extension whose only job is to take a screenshot of the page you are looking at and hand it to Vox Issue for Mac, running on the same computer. The Mac app does everything else. The relay has no server, no account, no analytics and no licence check. This page says exactly what it touches.

WHAT THE RELAY PROCESSES — ONLY WHEN YOU ACT

• Screenshots of the page in front of you, taken when you press Capture, use a keyboard shortcut, or start a site's auto-capture. Nothing is captured in the background.
• Page facts sent with each screenshot: the page URL and title, the viewport size, your browser's name and version, and — for Mouse and Element captures — the CSS selector and position of the element you clicked. These let the filed issue say where the bug is.
• Sensitive fields on the page (password, card number, CVC and similarly named inputs) are located so they can be pixelated in the screenshot before it leaves the browser. Their contents are never read.
• Images you import through "Add Images" are sent to the Mac app as they are.

WHERE IT GOES

Every screenshot and its page facts go to one place: Vox Issue for Mac, over the loopback interface (http://127.0.0.1) of your own computer. The relay contacts no other address. What the Mac app then does with the screenshot — on-device analysis, dictation, filing to your GitHub — is described in the App Privacy Policy.

STORED IN YOUR BROWSER

• A pairing secret that authorises this browser to send screenshots to your Mac app, and the repository you last chose. Both live in the extension's local storage. The secret is good for nothing else, and you can revoke it from the extension ("Forget pairing") or from the app (Settings › Browser relay › Forget).
• While the browser is open: the capture session (on/off and mode), the cards in the panel with their thumbnails, and — only until the app has accepted it — the full image of a shot still being sent. All of this is cleared when the browser quits.

WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT

• We receive nothing. The relay has no server-side component and never contacts voxissue.com or any other host.
• No cookies, no analytics, no advertising or tracking code.
• No GitHub token, no AI key, no account: the relay holds none of these. They stay in the Mac app.
• Nothing is read from a page beyond the element you clicked and the rectangles of fields to pixelate.

PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN WORDS

• Active tab — screenshot the tab you are looking at when you press Capture, and read its URL for the issue.
• Scripting — put the capture overlay (hover outline, marquee, click ring) on the page, on demand only.
• Storage — the pairing secret, chosen repository and the current session, as described above.
• Sidebar (Firefox) / side panel (Chrome) — the capture panel itself.
• Clipboard write — the panel's Copy button puts a screenshot on your clipboard.
• 127.0.0.1 — talk to Vox Issue for Mac on your own computer.
• Access to a site (optional) — asked for when you press Start on a site, once per site, so capture keeps working while you navigate it. It is never requested at install, and you can withdraw it in your browser's extension settings.

AUTO-CAPTURE

Sites built with the Vox Issue SDK can run their own visual test suite and capture each step through the relay. This only happens on a site where you pressed Start in the panel; the relay then defines a small hook on that site's pages so the suite can ask for a screenshot. Pause and Stop are yours at any time, and Stop removes the hook.

DATA RETENTION & DELETION

Everything the relay keeps lives in your browser: the pairing secret and chosen repository until you forget the pairing or remove the extension; the session and thumbnails until the browser quits. Deleting a card in the panel also deletes that screenshot in the Mac app, unless it has already been filed as a GitHub issue. We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

CHILDREN

Vox Issue is a developer tool and is not directed to children under 13.
