Last Updated: December 14, 2025
Introduction
X - Geo Filter PRO ("we," "our," or "the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our browser extension. The Extension is designed to enhance your experience on X (formerly Twitter) by displaying country flags and managing content based on user location.
Data Collection and Usage
We value your privacy and only process data necessary for the Extension's functionality.
- User Data from X (Twitter)
To provide country flags and location-based filtering, the Extension accesses publicly available profile information from X, specifically:
Profile Location: We read the "Location" field from user profiles to determine their country.
Screen Name (Handle): Used to identify users and cache their location data locally to reduce API requests.
Account Status: We may check if an account is verified or an affiliate to display appropriate badges (e.g., "Government Official").
2. Authentication Cookies
The Extension reads your existing authentication cookies (ct0 and auth_token) for the sole purpose of making authenticated requests to the X API on your behalf. This allows the Extension to fetch user location data while you are browsing.
We DO NOT store, share, or transmit these cookies to any third-party server.
They are used strictly within your browser connectivity to communicate directly with X's official servers.
3. Location History
If you use the "Location History" feature, the Extension locally stores a history of location changes for users you encounter.
This data is stored locally on your device via the browser's Local Storage.
It is not synced to the cloud or shared with us or any third party.
You can clear this history at any time through the Extension settings.
Data Storage
All data generated or collected by the Extension is stored locally on your device:
Local Cache: We cache user locations to improve performance and minimize API rate limits.
Settings: Your preferences (e.g., filtered countries, badge styles) are stored in your browser's local storage storage.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
No Third-Party Sharing: We do NOT sell, trade, or transfer your data to outside parties.
Direct Communication with X: The Extension communicates directly with X (Twitter) servers to fetch data. Your interactions are subject to X's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Your Controls
You have full control over your data:
Clear Cache: You can clear all cached user data and location history from the Extension's settings menu at any time.
Disable Extension: You can disable the Extension or specific features via the extension management page or the popup interface.
